Violin of French Workmanship
This vintage Violin is in "very good" condition as described by the appraiser from Apple Baums Music in Tacoma WA. A copy of the letter from the appraiser will be sold with the violin:
A Violin of French workmanship, early 20th century, labeled "LaFleur, Paris and London", and accompanied by a bill of sale from Rafael Carrabba 9-5-97
Top: two piece, quarter cut spruce, grain varying from wide to narrow.
Back: two piece, quarter cut maple, showing a narrow, deep, regular figure descending slightly from the center join.
Ribs, neck, and scroll: maple similar to the back.
Varnish: orange -brown with edges of the scroll and the rib corners blackened.
Fittings: ebony
Condition: Very Good Replacement Value: $9,000 (nine thousand dollars)
Body length: 358mm, upper bouts 166mm, middle bouts 111mm, lower bouts 206
mm, upper ribs 27mm, lower ribs 30 mm.
It was owned by Barbra Neill who was a violin teacher and solo artist. A Bow is being sold separately on this site.
