Made in Nippon Violin

Submitted by admin on Fri, 05/30/2008 - 17:01.

This violin is very interesting for it's historical presence.  It was probably one of the first violins made in Japan.  The original label inside clearly states:

TRADE            MARK

MADE IN NIPPON

Centered in the middle of this is a trade mark.  There is another label inside identifying that it was repaired by BARENDSEN SHOP in Evanston Illinois in 1919.

So that places its original construction early in the 20th century.  The one other fact that confirms this conclusion is that this violin was made from European wood that had to have been imported to Japan. New parts include the bridge, sound post, tailpiece, nut, pegs and strings.  It has been cleaned and polished.

SOLD !!!!! to a young violinist from the interior of British Columbia.
