Imperial Violin - For Sale

Submitted by admin on Thu, 02/14/2008 - 19:06.

On the back of the scroll is engraved Imperial Violin.  This is the only written identification of this violin so that is why we have used this to define this violin.  Like many of the antique violins in this collection, it was made in Germany at the turn of the century, probably in a cottage factory.  It has nice wood with an especially beautiful one piece back.

Our luthier replaced the bridge, the sound post, end pin, chin rest, tail piece and the fingerboard.  He replaced the pegs with much higher quality pegs.  He fixed the crack at the base of the tailpiece.  The stain there is from an earlier effort by a much less expert luthier who used the wrong methods and materials to repair this problem.  It is now done properly.

The violin has new Dominant strings and the original finish has been polished to the nice shine that you can see in the pictures.  The sound is full and has a bit of a nasal tone, for the lack of a better word to describe it. This Imperial violin is for a committed student or someone who wants a nice violin to play every day.
