Antonio Martello Violin - For Sale

Submitted by admin on Wed, 01/09/2008 - 20:51.

Inside of the violin is a label that reads ANTONIO MARTELLO aubourg Saint Martin, Paris. There is a trademark in the corner that is outlined in the shape of an old service station sign with B & S with an L below those two letters but inside of the crest. Even though the spelling of "Saint" is not very French, our luthier tells us that this is definitely a French violin.

This violin was in very good shape. Our luthier did mostly cosmetic and tuning work. He cleaned it, polished it and did some varnish touch ups. You can see the new chin rest, tail piece, tuning pegs, end pin and tail hanger. He constructed a new tail hanger and installed a new set of Dominant strings. This is a lovely instrument and only one of two French made instruments in the collection.
