Amatus 1645 violin - For Sale

Submitted by admin on Tue, 02/12/2008 - 17:12.

Inside the violin is stamped Nicolus Amatus fecit in Cremona 1645.  The wood and construction indicate that it was made in a cottage factory at the turn of the century.

It has a nice one piece back of beautiful German maple. The top is in beautiful shape and the finish shines like it is new. New parts include the pegs, nut, sound post, bridge, tail piece, tail hanger, chin rest and Dominant strings.

It has the distinctive shape of an Amatus violin and a distinctive sound as well. This is an instrument suited to a violinist in a Junior orchestra or an adult who wants a nice violin to play every day.
